Illegal logging is one of the main causes of forest destruction worldwide. To stop these illegal timber imports, the European Commission presented the FLEGT Action Plan. FLEGT is an English acronym that translates to “Law Enforcement, Policy Making and Trade in the Forest Sector”.
The core parts of the plan are the “Voluntary Partnership Agreements” (VPA), i.e. voluntary but binding partnership agreements, and the EU Timber Trade Regulation. In plain language, this means: Due to the FLEGT plan, which came into force on November 15, 2016, only finished products or wood in conjunction with a proven “green thread” are accepted and may be imported into Germany. And that's a good thing, because it ensures fair treatment of nature and people!
The company dekoVries GmbH registered with the FSC® in the 90s and was therefore the fourth company in Germany, as evidenced by the registration number “FSC® DEU 0004”. We are further expanding this long-standing basic idea of controlled wood processing through FSC® certification. It is important to us that our wood comes from local areas
in which traditional or civil rights are not violated;
which are not under any special protection and whose stocks are not endangered;
whose trees have a natural origin and have not been genetically modified.
We hope to protect natural forests by promoting legal timber harvesting. The logo shown above recognizes products whose production uses wood from forests that are managed in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
